Tree of Life: Arizona Bible Conference 2008. Psalm 23

Our thanks go out to the Arizona Grace Bible Church for hosting this conference and all the work that has gone into setting things up. This is first of all a Bible conference, and we are going to be fellowshipping around God’s Word and we’re going to do that by concentrating on a magnificent Psalm called Psalm 23.There is this calling in all of us that won’t stop its call. Sometimes people try to drown it out, but it remains. At the same time we have this nameless, formless, shadowy discontentedness. This can all be traced back to our beginning. Gen 3:8-11, They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to...

Tree of Life: Is there anything missing this Christmas season

In this Tree of Life, we are going to continue to give thanks to God for His indescribable gift. 2Co 9:15 “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” God’s indescribable gift: The gift of His uniquely born Son. God’s indescribable, unspeakable generosity came in the form of an infant, in a cradle, being rocked by His mother, in a stable in Bethlehem. Mary rocked Him, and later, He rocked the world, perhaps it might be time for Him to rock your world once again. Luk 7:16 “And fear gripped them all, and they {began} glorifying God, saying, ‘A great prophet has arisen among us! and, God has visited His people!’” We celebrated a holiday this past week which is a reminder to all...

Prep School - Teen Tree: The Study of Romans 9, 10, 11 Iconoclastic Arrogance

...The worst type of sins that the believer in The Lord Jesus Christ (TLJC) can commit are those sins which are related to arrogance. Arrogance is defined as an offensive display of superiority or self-importance. It is also defined as an overbearing pride, with a superior manner toward inferiors. Pride is defined as an excessively high opinion of oneself. What is the difference between pride and arrogance? Pride is found in the mentality of the believer; in his system of thinking. Arrogance is related to the overt activity or actions of the believer. A comparison of the average believer’s top 7 sins and what God considers the top 7 sins will generally produce 2 entirely different lists. What God considers the 7 worst sins of the human race are found in Pro 6:16-19 which reads in the message Bible, “Here are six things GOD hates, and one more that he loathes with a passion: eyes that are arrogant, a tongue that lies, hands that murder the innocent, a heart that hatches evil plots, feet that race down a wicked track, a mouth that lies under oath, a troublemaker in the family.” By it&rsqu...

Prep School - Junior Tree: Hero Worship

...of Bible doctrine, we have been warned many times about the dangers of becoming arrogant. We know that an arrogant person will have a belief that he is somehow superior to others. We see this all of the time. The arrogant person will judge and condemn others, but won’t admit that they have any faults. The Lord Jesus Christ talked about this kind of arrogance when He told the Pharisees in Luk 6:41, “and why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” There are some who believe that they are just better than others because they have more money, a nicer house, or because they are more popular. Many times an arrogant person will ignore rules that they believe should apply only to people who are not as wonderful as they are. Some just think of themsel...

A very dangerous area of our life is the attitude we have toward ourselves. We are examining Rom 7:14-25, a passage which should set you straight as far as your relationship with God is concerned and your attitude toward yourself. In Rom 7:14-17 the emphasis is on practicing the very thing we hate: The inability to overcome the sin nature.
Prep School - Teen Tree: The Study of Romans 9, 10, 11 The Believer's Experiential Glory - The 3 Spiritual Skills

...How is the Glory of God experienced in the life of the Church-age believer? We must first consider that the Glory of God was lost to the entire human race at the fall of man. This is revealed in Gen 3:6 which reads, “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.” The Church-age believer is restored to the full glory of God through TLJC at the moment of Salvation. Joh 3:36 reads, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” At the moment of Salvation, the Church-age believer is placed in union with Jesus Christ by means of the baptism of God the Holy Spirit, and will remain in union with Jesus Christ forever and ever. In other words, the believer’s position in TLJC will never change. Please remember that the Church-age believer will not be one bit holier billions of years from today than he was at the moment of Salvation because of his eternal position in Jesus Christ. This principle is called positional truth. What is positional truth? Positional truth occurs at the time of the believer&rsq...

Prep School - Junior Tree: Walking with God

...In Acts chapter 26, the Apostle Paul was called to defend himself to King Agrippa. In front of Agrippa, Paul tells of his meeting with the Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus; a meeting that led to his conversion to Christianity. Paul recalls in Act 26:18 that the Lord instructed him to spread the Christian faith to the Gentiles. He is to “open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they (the Gentiles) may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.” There are many references to darkness and light in the Bible. Darkness is used to describe the forces of evil. The Greek word for darkness is “skotos.” Skotos mea...

The book of Ecclesiastes is proof of how much God the Father loves the lost. This book contains much of the thinking of God’s enemy, and to allow that to appear in such measure among the sixty-six books that are His testimony to the world is, on one level, inexplicable. Why would God do that? The answer is because He knows that is the only way to reach so many where they live right now. The point of reading Ecclesiastes is to recognize your lost self somewhere among the ramblings of the foolish side of King Solomon. In the end, we will see what Solomon’s conclusion is: Happiness is not found anywhere else but in God. Remember Him, respect Him, and guard His commands, for that is the only way to become a complete and mature spiritual person.
